Nature Conservation & Social Organization (NCSO)

NCSO is a non-political, non-profitable organization created in 2008 to respond current need for Sikkimese people in order to sustained and strengthen and promote human right culture, peace building, good governance initiatives and tackle humanitarian crisis, etc. It is managed by independent non-partisan indigenous professionals whom have been experiencing practically & technically on various fields of capacity buildings of humanitarian sectors and community development projects as they have had special trainings to the sectors of humanitarian interventions, human rights, child protection, environment, education, NRM, water & sanitation, natural disaster, tourism and capacity building programs.

Nature Conservation & Social Organization (NCSO) is a grassroots non-governmental organization founded in the year 2008 by likeminded and dedicated youth & women of Lingchom, Tingda under North district in the state of Sikkim. So in respond to the fact NCSO came to light by indigenous professionals live in the area to engage protection on human rights, humanitarian issues, management & protection of natural resources,  environ, developments and capacity buildings with action research which based on participatory approach by all the levels of the community on their priorities for the future its impact. NCSO is aimed to tackle the humanitarian crisis including disaster prevention and also develops community basic social services needs and creates employment opportunities and income generation projects for the youth, women and poor rural community to reduce the level of poverty and contribute National Development Goals. It also provides training, researches and capacity buildings to local authorities and civil society in supporting Good governance within the local authorities and community initiatives and advocacy protection for all human being to create positive environment and develop society, politically, economically throughout the state. 

Positive response from the society has given impetus to it's various initiatives that have beneficiaries across the social spectrum. NCSO stands as a well structured voluntary body with definite social aims and objectives. It strives to focus on overall social welfare through various initiatives. NCSO's activities have been executed with internal and external resources in its operational areas though innovative drives and methods. Development is not a handout but a hand up. It is about enabling and equipping communities understand that they can solve their problems on their own. 

NCSO Purposes & objectives                                                                            
As indigenous professionals on humanitarian sectors and capacity buildings, they felt that there is an argent need to interventions and they had the ability to access the grass roots and act as a bridge between the suffering and desperate local communities and the UN agencies, International organizations, Donors, Well wishers, Central & State Govt. departments and charities that are willing to help the people. This was the philosophy behind the establishment of NCSO.

The basic objective are: -
  • to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
  • to achieve universal primary education
  • to promote gender equality and empower women
  • to reduce child mortality and to eliminate bonded, forced child labour and slavery
  • to improve maternal health and communities health through health education, environment, cleanliness and increasing access to primary health and child care centre in remote villages
  • to combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
  • to ensure environmental sustainability
  • to develop a global partnership for development
  • To reduce poverty by improving economic status of individual through income generation activities.
